The Truth About Detox Dieting

I often have conversations about having the body detoxed, and when I do, I always try to use a common sense approach. Well I will let you in on a little secret! Let nature be your guide.

Can you believe that nearly 30 million dollars is spent every year on "detox products?" Whether for weight loss or body cleansing from "toxins" in the environment, the claims usually sound too good to be true. And they are.  continued>>

The following information was received from testing results.

Background:
There are eight B vitamins — individually known as thiamin hydrochloride (B-1), riboflavin (B-2), niacin (B-3), pantothenic acid (B-5), pyridoxine hydrochloride (B-6), cyanocobalamin (B-12), folic acid (folate) and biotin. Like most vitamins, B vitamins are essential — your body cannot make them; you must get them from your diet or from supplements.

Each B vitamin is associated with a variety of functions. Several (B-6, B-12, and folate) have shown promise for reducing the risk of heart disease, leading to the current popularity of B complex supplements. Folate is also important in reducing birth defects of the spinal cord and is, continued>>
The Benefit of Cranberry Juice

For decades, the idea that drinking cranberry juice could prevent or treat urinary tract infections was greeted with doubt and sometimes even sarcasm by doctors who considered this an "old wives' tale". But in recent years, studies have shown that cranberry juice does exactly what countless grandmas and herbalists said it does. It wards off infections. But how? Now comes word that re--searchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) have the answer. Cranberry juice creates what scientists call an "energy barrier" that has the amazing power to prevent disease-causing microorganisms from starting an infection. This barrier changes the thermodynamic properties of infection-causing germs in the urinary tract. Simply put, the bacteria are then unable to hook onto cells and cause illnesses. The study looked at two illnesses. The study looked at two varieties of E. coli bacteria -- one with projections known as fimbriae which are believed to be used by bacteria to latch into cells and one without the hair-like append-ages. The bacteria with fimbriae are found on  continued>>
ZINC -  vital to good health

The U.S. National Institutes of Health says that zinc stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, which are substances that promote biochemical reactions in your body. Zinc supports a healthy immune system, is needed for wound healing, helps maintain your sense of taste and smell and is needed for DNA synthesis. Zinc also supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood and adolescence. Zinc is found in lots of foods, and oysters contain more zinc per serving than any other. But if you can't get your hands on oysters or don't like them, there many alternatives. Red meat and poultry provide the majority of zinc in the American diet. Other good food sources include beans, nuts, certain seafood, whole grains, fortified breakfast cereals and dairy products. Zinc absorption is greater from a diet high in animal protein than a diet rich in plant proteins.
